The on-line catalogue with all the courses activated by the University of Verona .
Thanks to a search engine, courses of interest can be found by selecting them according to faculty, time of activation, lecturer or through keywords.
Since 1999, university studies have been reorganized in Italy, so as to respond to the targets of the “Bologna process”. The university system is now articulated into 3 cycles: the Bachelor level degree, i.e. the academic title of 1st cycle, allows access to the MA; the Master level degree, i.e. the main title of the 2nd cycle, is necessary in order to be admitted to PhD courses, giving the title of Doctor of Research. The system also offers other academic courses with their corresponding titles.
BA courses

They are Degree Courses, aiming at assuring students adequate skills in general scientific methods and contents, together with the acquisition of specific professional competences. The necessary requirement is the final high school certificate, released after 13 years of education and after the corresponding state exams, or a comparable foreign title. Courses last 3 years. In order to get the degree, students have to acquire 180 ECTS credits and discuss a thesis; they can also be required to spend a training period. The degree offers the access to competitions for public employment, to work and to regulated professions, along with MA courses.

MA courses
The studies include:
A) Courses of Master degree
they offer advanced training for the practice of high qualified activities in specific sectors. Only students with a BA graduation or a foreign comparable title are admitted to these courses; admission is accepted only according to the specific requirements decided by each university; courses last two years; students acquire 120 ECTS credits and discuss a final thesis.
In 2004 the name of the final title changed from Specialised Degree to Master degree. Some courses (such as Medicine and Surgery, Dentistry and Dental prosthesis, and Law) have been called “Corsi di Laurea Magistrale a ciclo unico” (five-year Master courses): access requirement is the high school certificate or a foreign comparable title; admission is subordinated to an entry test; studies last 5 years and 300 credits are required (6 years and 360 credits for Medicine and Surgery). All master level degrees offer the access to competitions for public employment, PhDs, work and regulated professions.

B) First level professionally oriented Specialization courses
They are specializing scientific courses or courses of continuous high training; access is possible only for graduated people or foreigners with equivalent titles; admission might however be subordinated to other requirements too. Such courses last at least one year (60 credits). These courses do not give access to PhD studies.

A) PhD courses
They aim at the acquisition of a correct methodology for advanced scientific research, by adopting innovative methodologies and new technologies. They can require periods of research abroad and attendance to research laboratories. Admission is subordinated to the MA Degree (or an equivalent foreign title) and to a competition; courses last 3 years. The PhD student has to write an original thesis and discuss it during the final exam.

B) Specialization Courses
They aim at providing knowledge and abilities for the practice of high level professional activities, especially in the fields of medical, clinical and surgical specialisations. A Master level Degree (or an equivalent foreign title) is required for the admission, along with the success in the competition. Courses last according to the disciplinary field. The Certificate of Specialisation gives the title of “Specialist”.

They are scientific further trainings or courses of permanent and recurrent high training; access is possible only for people with a Master level Degree or equivalent titles for foreigners. Such courses last at least one year (60 credits).

University Formative Credits
All courses are structured in credits. Each university formative credit corresponds to 25 hours of students’ work, including individual study. The average quantity of academic work carried on by a full time student is conventionally established in 60 credits.
Academic titles
The 1st cycle degree awards the title of “Bachelor level Doctor”; the 2nd cycle degree awards the title of “Master level doctor”; doctoral courses lead to the title of “Doctor of Research”.
Modules taught in a foreign language
Each year some courses are taught in English, French, Spanish or German, as part of specific projects of the university. In the years 2009/2010, 50 modules will be taught in English or in another foreign language.
